theraputic exerciser MOTOmed Viva: Goals

The Goals of MOTOmed Therapy

Reducing spasticity, becoming more flexible
Loosening the muscles in the case of sudden spasms as well as general stiffness.

Counteracting the consequences of a lack of movement
such as circulatory problems (cold legs), stiff joints, shortened tendons, digestive problems, bladder problems, brittle bones (osteoporosis), build up of fluid in legs and ankles (oedema) ...

Rediscovering residual muscle strength
Residual strength which is either not apparent or insufficient for a complete movement can be rediscovered and applied.

Promoting walking ability
To build up and maintain the basic fitness required for walking (i.e. endurance and muscle strength). To reduce restraining muscle stiffness. To improve confidence in walking.

Strengthening the sense of mental well-being
Regular excercise. Doing something for yourself. This has a positive influence on the sense of mental well-being.

Lack of movement - counteracting the consequences

Daily excercise is an important element for the smooth running of many bodily functions, and for a general sense of well-being. However, paralysis or weakness can cause daily exercise to shrink to a minimum or to disappear altogether. Circulatory problems, stiffness of the joints, shortened tendons, digestive problems, fluid build-up in the legs (oedema) and brittle bones (osteoporisis) are the consequences. These often have to be treated with expensive therapies such as medication and surgery.

Those problems can be counteracted through sufficient training with suitable therapeutic equipment. The MOTOmed offers the possibility for daily movement, regardless of the preconditions and abilities of the user. Paralysed or weak arms and legs can be moved forwards or backwards, quickly or slowly, passively with motor assistance or purely with your own strenth.

Lack of movement
can cause a range of problems such as
  • circulatory problems
  • stiff joints
  • shortened tendons
  • digestive problems
  • brittle bones
Movement
is important for maintaining
  • bodily functions
    (e.g. circulation and digestion)
  • flexibility
    (e.g. joints, muscles, tendons)
  • well being
The MOTOmed provids the opportunity of bending and stretching the arms or legs several hundreds of times in 10 min. for example.
